The Process

This is a video from one of our first pieces, The Horse in Wind. Some parts of the process has changed, but this is still a good example of what goes into our artwork.
We purchase lumber from local suppliers here in Indiana. We do not use "MDF" or plywood laser sheets for our art, although we do utilize 1/2" Birch plywood as a robust backer to ensure the structural integrity of our art pieces. Every board is hand-picked for its unique grain, color, and overall appearance.
The selected lumber is cut down, resawn, planed, and sanded to precise 1/4" thick pieces specifically for the laser cutting process. This preparation allows us to utilize a diverse palette of both domestic and exotic hardwoods, including Maple, Walnut, Cherry, African Mahogany, Red Oak, Padauk, and Purple Heart.
Every design begins with an idea or inspiration, whether from an authorized image or an original concept. The artwork is digitally drawn, then each component is separated and categorized by wood type. Every piece is then rotated to align with the wood grain. The final result is a cut-ready file organized by material and grain direction.
